How to prepare files

A few tips for quick and easy preparation of print files.

Checklist

  • Send the file as a PDF (press).
  • Include crop marks.
  • Add at least 3 mm bleed.
  • All colours in CMYK or as spot colours from current guides (Pantone).
  • All images in CMYK or as spot colours, at least 300 dpi.
  • White must not be set to overprint.
  • Black must not be built from several colours unless intended.
  • Convert images from RGB to CMYK using ISO Coated or Euroscale Coated.

Open files

If you cannot prepare files as described, you can send open files (Corel, InDesign, Illustrator, EPS, FreeHand, QuarkXPress …) and we will create the PDF. Additional work is charged according to the current price list and hours spent.

Include the fonts used (Type 1 or TrueType) or convert them to outlines. Save images as TIFF or JPG, in CMYK, at 300 dpi.

Submitting files

PDF files can be sent by email, with the online order or on a portable medium. Save larger publications as a single file and compress large files as ZIP. Do not embed ICC profiles unless agreed in advance.

PostScript and PDF

When creating a PostScript file, allow 3 mm bleed and save colours in CMYK, composite, at 2400 dpi. When converting to PDF with Adobe Acrobat Distiller, use the Press setting.
