Prepress

What prepress includes

We check and technically process all image material, produce proofs, fix errors and enter corrections, prepare the page imposition and technically prepare the files for plate imaging or digital printing.

Equipment and processes

We pay close attention to the preparation of your print.

• Electronic (on-screen) imposition makes preparation considerably easier and faster.
• Colour proofs allow us to print forms, preview the imposition before plates are made and ensure colour-accurate printing. Errors are found before plate and printing costs arise.
• Computer to plate (CTP) speeds up the process, as plates are imaged directly.
• Thermal imaging uses plates that are insensitive to UV light and withstand considerably more impressions.
• Plates are punched using the Bacher system.

Scanning and image processing

We scan slides (including mounted slides), negatives and other image material up to 457 × 305 mm. The maximum optical resolution across the whole area is 5500 × 10000 dpi; enlargement at 300 dpi ranges from 20% to 3300%.

Files are saved as SCITEX (CT, LW, new LW), EPSF (normal DCS2, JPEG zip, CCITT zip), TIFF (RGB, CMYK, JPEG zip) and JPEG. We retouch and colour-correct images or leave them unchanged for your own processing.

Graphic design

Based on your idea we create a design draft and agree the format, materials, typefaces, colours and images with you. For more complex projects we work with renowned external designers and partners.
